If you aren’t aware of Thomas Nelson’s recently released New Testament (NCV) for teen girls, Revolve, you need to be. Revolve looks like a teen girl’s magazine—complete with beauty tips, surveys, thoughts about guys and dating, etc. This has been covered by a variety of national secular media. People have a variety of responses to the product—some feel that it’s Scripture and if the magazine-style gets teens to read Scripture, then great. Others think that Scripture is being glossed-over and trivialized with the inclusion of the secular tips and ideas that don’t necessarily relate to the Scripture on a given page. We are not advocating one side or the other—we just want you to be aware of the product—because if your girls aren’t aware already—they will be. The first printing completely sold out in just a few weeks. The magazine-style New Testament for teen guys will be out after the first of the year.
Another teen girls Bible you should know about has been produced by Zondervan. It is called trueimages—the Bible for teen girls (NIV). It is designed specifically for teen girls ages 13-16 and is available in hardback and softcover. The Bible contains notes and articles—and it appears that these sidebars do relate to the Scripture on the page. A companion Web site is also available. This Bible is not getting the media attention that Revolve is getting, but it is also a product you need to know about. There is also a like Bible for teen guys.
